The West side boilers do not seem to have played a major role during the life of the colliery.  Neither they or the west chimney are shown on the 1875 1 : 2540 scale map. They are shown on the 1899 map with 4 on either side of the chimney. By 1916 only the  4 to the SW of the chimney remain and by 1938 these have gone as well.

When the South engine-house was enlarged in 1922, the 4 SW boilers and their rear flue were removed, but it is just possible that traces of the NW boiler flue-way may still be present under the debris alongside the North engine-house wall.
