The following information is derived from the shaft sinking record book of Mr G. A. Longden, one of the early managers, from a re-survey conducted in 1946/47 by someone with the initials “FE” and from mine closure plans.
(NB it’s not clear whether the early measurements refer to the original ground surface, or to the decking level)
