- William Edward Nightingale (nee Shore)
- father of Florence Nightingale
- changed name from Shore to Nightingale after inheritance of great-uncle Peter Nightingale’s estate
- Purchased the Manor of Pleasley in 1823/24
- leased mineral rights at Pleasley Manor to Stanton Iron Works in Sept. 1872
died Jan 10th 1874 after slipping on stairs whilst going to fetch his watch
