Old passageway underneath the North pit-top looking East. The source, destination and purpose of the 24in. cast iron pipe is unknown.

Remains of old 12in. cast iron pipe at the West end of the passageway. This pipe came along the passageway for about 2yd and then went through the wall on the RH side into the main chamber. Source, destination and purpose unknown

Joint on the 24in. cast iron pipe  at  the East end of the passageway. This looks to be a low pressure gas-main joint and the sealing material in the spigot is probably lead.
